Technological and Applied Studies (TAS)
Incorporates subjects utilising technology, following design processes to enable people to manage, interpret, shape and alter their environment to improve the quality of life at home, in the workplace and in broader community.
In TAS subjects offered at Loreto Normanhurst, students learn about technologies and use a range of materials, tools and techniques relevant to the personal, commercial and global areas of human activity. Students identify needs that have personal meaning and apply design theory and processes that encourage resourcefulness, imagination and innovation in developing and producing functional solutions. Through practical experience, the subjects offered in TAS leads students to develop, select and apply technological skills involved in designing and making. 
Students will be prepared for lifelong learning and career opportunities in the study of design, computers, food, hospitality, textiles and related industries. They will be given the opportunity to develop an inspired interest in developing solutions, a love of making things, and satisfaction in products and solutions of enduring quality that are useful to themselves and the community.
We are living in a time of rapid technological, social and economic change. As educators, we should endeavour to empower students with the knowledge and skills base to meet these challenges as presented to them. Schooling, in particular Loreto schooling, should enable these young women to continue learning throughout their lives and to actively contribute to society. We strive to enable students to be confident and capable users of technology.
Students are consistently being provided access to technology, developing skills that allow them to make informed decisions and to express value positions on technological issues affecting themselves and others in society and in their environment.
