Year Seven and New Parent Dinners

At the beginning of each year all new parents to Loreto Normanhurst are invited to a welcome dinner hosted by the Principal and the Development Office. These relaxed dinners provide the opportunity for new parents to meet each other and to spend an evening with the Principal Barbara Watkins, significant teachers/Heads of Faculty and various School Council members. These dinners are held within the heritage area of Loreto Normanhurst in the charming Reception Room.

During the evening of welcome important information is shared about the school and its plans for the future. These dinners are valuable opportunities for parents and Loreto Normanhurst staff to meet, share thoughts and ideas, ask questions and to enjoy each other’s company.

Year 13 Gathering

Early in February Year 13 ex-students gather in the Reception Room for their first “official” reunion since leaving Loreto Normanhurst.  A number of staff members and representatives of the Ex-students’ Association attend as all share stories of the HSC and their future plans and dreams.

Open Day

Held annually in Term One, offers the opportunity for visitors to see Loreto Normanhurst “in action”.  Highlights include the Principal’s Address, classrooms displays, music and drama performances, sporting activities and many “hands-on” activities in both the curricular and extra-curricular areas.  Students conduct tours of the School highlighting features of key interest including the Chapel, 1897 heritage building, Learning Resource Centre, Aquatic Centre and the open learning spaces.

Country Gatherings

Twice annually members of the Loreto Normanhurst Leadership Team together with the Registrar visit regional New South Wales.  The country gatherings are a wonderful opportunity to meet with past and current families and for prospective parents and their daughters to attend an information session – “Educating your daughter at Loreto Normanhurst”.

Mother Daughter Eucharist

A very special Eucharist for the students and their mothers is celebrated in May.  Reflections and moving words of mother-daughter relationships are shared during the ceremony.  Following the Mass families have a chance to chat over morning tea in the gardens.

Fathers’ Dinner

The Fathers’ Dinner is attended by Loreto Normanhurst fathers and friends of the school.  Over a social dinner the guests are entertained by a speaker and have the opportunity to engage in a few rounds of sporting trivia.

Father Daughter Eucharist

The special relationship between fathers and their daughters is celebrated each year in August at the Father Daughter Eucharist. Following the Mass the dads have the opportunity to “catch-up” whilst enjoyed morning tea in the gardens.

Grandparents’ & Special Friends’ Day

The Year 7 students eagerly await the opportunity in Term 3 to invite their grandparents and special friends to visit them at the school.  The day commences with a beautiful liturgy which focuses on this special relationship followed by morning tea.  The students then accompany their guests on a school tour and conclude the visit with a concert and “showcase” of their work in the Deirdre Rofe Centre.

Year 12 Mothers’ Lunch

In September the Year 12 mothers celebrate their daughter’s years at Loreto Normanhurst with a liturgy in the Chapel followed by a luncheon in the Reception Room.

Ex-students’ Christmas Lunch

Ex-students who left Loreto Normanhurst 40 years ago or more are invited to a Christmas Luncheon in the Reception Room.  Fond memories and stories are told as these ladies celebrate in the school that played an important role in their lives.
