Annual Giving

"Be such as we appear and appear such as we are " Mary Ward

When Mary Ward founded the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (IBVM) in 1609, she recognised the critical difference that education would make to her troubled world, especially through the care and development of faith in the individual.

Loreto Values - Vision, Freedom, Sincerity, Verity, Felicity, Challenge and Justice - established nearly 400 years ago - are the foundations of Loreto Normanhurst education today.

Annual support via the Annual Giving Program will enable students currently at Loreto Normanhurst and students in the future to have a rich learning experience and to fulfil the visions of Mary Ward.

Each year the Annual Giving Program will identify specific projects and with the support of the Loreto community aim to raise the full cost of these projects. Through Annual gifts Loreto Normanhurst can plan and deliver tangible improvements which will directly benefit the students at Loreto today and in the future.

Capital Appeals

It has been through the generosity of many generations of the Loreto Normanhurst family that our school is here today educating young women in such carefully planned and maintained buildings with the latest technology in an environment that encourages young minds to grow.

The most recent Capital Appeal 2005-2007 “Learning For Today and Tomorrow – Investing in our Future” has been generously supported by all members of the Loreto Normanhurst family including Current Parents, Ex Students, Past Parents, Staff and others committed to ensuring the vitality and prominence of this great school.

Gifts from this Appeal have assisted in the funding of new developments which cover the following categories:

  • Student areas and improved resources

  • Traffic management and safety

  • Improved recreational places in the school

We greatly appreciate and thank all those who have supported Loreto Normanhurst. Your generosity makes it possible for the girls of today – and tomorrow – to benefit from all the exceptional academic, cultural and sporting experiences that have been hallmarks of a Loreto Normanhurst education for over a century.

Building Fund

Philanthropic support is essential to the health and continued success of Loreto Normanhurst. Each year new families join the school community and are informed of all the capital developments in progress and those planned for the future. We encourage all members of the Loreto Normanhurst family to support the Building Fund through annual gifts and contributions via voluntary donations on the school fees. All gifts to the Building Fund are tax-deductible.

By working together we can all make a difference here at Loreto Normanhurst in providing the best possible facilities and resources for teaching and learning for today’s students and the next generation.

Bequests

The thoughtful inclusion of Loreto Normanhurst in your will is a lasting and meaningful way of contributing toward the security of this school and the ongoing work of Mary Ward.

A bequest is contained within a will and specifically reserves part of an estate for a particular beneficiary. Bequests can be made in a variety of ways to reflect a donor’s wishes. A bequest makes a valuable contribution to the long-term planning for Loreto Normanhurst and can be directed to the school for use at its discretion or directed to specific areas such as bursary, academic scholarship or buildings.

By informing Loreto Normanhurst about your bequest you allow the school to thank you in your lifetime. All bequest correspondence with the school is strictly confidential.

You may wish to discuss your ideas or plans with Rod Loneragan, especially if you have a particular purpose in mind. We recommend that you consult your solicitor before finalising arrangements to ensure that they are appropriate for your personal wishes and circumstances.

Welfare Fund - for Bursary and Scholarship

The educational vision of Loreto schools springs from the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Mary Ward knew the critical difference education could make to her world. The education of our young women at Loreto Normanhurst is an investment in the future of our community and nation.

Means-tested bursaries are provided to assist those families who would otherwise not be able to afford a Loreto Normanhurst education. These students come from a variety of backgrounds – some are from the country where their families are suffering from years of hardship and drought, others are from the city, some are indigenous and some have suffered family tragedy.

In addition Loreto Normanhurst offers a limited number of Academic Scholarships each year.

By supporting the Welfare Fund you are helping make a difference in the lives of a number of significant young women and offering them an opportunity of a Loreto Normanhurst education.  Gifts to the new Loreto Normanhurst Welfare Fund are fully tax-deductible.

Contributors’ Acknowledgement Board

The Loreto Normanhurst Contributors’ Board located in the quadrangle near the statue of Mary Ward will provide a permanent public acknowledgement of the supporters of Loreto Normanhurst.

From 2007 all donors to Loreto Normanhurst who gift $1000 or more to the Building Fund are invited to have their name/s added to the board.

In supporting Loreto Normanhurst please think generously of the education bestowed by Mary Ward and members of the IBVM and the lasting legacy that is being created for future generations of Loreto Normanhurst girls.

Remember Mary Ward loved and encouraged a “cheerful giver”.
