Antipodeans Expeditions Abroad
At Loreto Normanhurst every two to three years we build a team of students from Years 11 and 12 who will be part of an Expedition abroad. The students work together for 18 months to build a strong team and become aware of the social and economic plight of the country they will visit.

The two components of the Expedition are the community project and the trek. Each expedition involves itself with a Loreto community project, in country and with the assistance of Mary Ward International we make contact with Loreto schools and convents in the country to be visited. The students are involved in teaching English, supporting the work of the school or convent and sometimes building or painting projects.
As well as the community project the students take part in an eight day trek. They must manage their own gear and the travel arrangements which add to the personal challenge of the trip. The school has visited Tanzania, Vietnam, Peru and India.
