“Attending an all-girls school gave me the opportunity to grow and learn in a supportive environment, surrounded by strong female role models, where I was presented with the idea that with hard work and passion you can achieve anything.”
School Vice-Captain and boarder 2019
Established in 1897, Loreto Normanhurst is a leading Sydney, Catholic, independent day and boarding school for girls from Years 5-12, with boarding from Years 7-12. The school is part of a 400-year tradition of educating girls and is connected to a worldwide network of Loreto schools, including seven in Australia.
We are most proud of our 123 years of excellence in girls’ education. Our foundress, Mary Ward, a simple and devout English woman who lived from 1585-1645, believed that, “Women in time to come will do much …” Immersed in an education grounded by the Loreto values of felicity, justice, freedom, sincerity and verity, our students will transition into the world with these values as their educational and moral compass.
Located on Sydney’s leafy Upper North Shore, the school is set in spacious grounds of over 25 acres, on the edge of bushland, with beautiful ovals and a large sporting and aquatic complex. An oasis set back from bustling Pennant Hills Road, the school is very accessible and is well serviced by public transport, both train and bus. The school offers private bus services to the Mosman/North Shore areas; Lane Cove/North Ryde areas; Drummoyne/Gladesville areas; the Hills District; Arcadia areas; and the Northern Beaches areas. Loreto Normanhurst provides an education within the Catholic, and specifically Loreto tradition. Mary Ward’s values, as well as a deep respect for the contribution of women, underpin the mission of our school and every aspect of school life. Loreto Normanhurst is a place where the Catholic Christian faith is fostered and developed. It is a school where all people are invited to grow in their knowledge and love of God and to embrace the gospel. Parents wishing for a place at the school for their daughter are expected to have an understanding of, and a commitment to, all that a Loreto Education represents.
In selecting students for enrolment at the school, primary consideration will be given to families who have congruence with Catholic values and the ethos of the school. Please note, Loreto Normanhurst is not registered to deliver courses to overseas students.
