Seeking Truth – Seminar Series
‘Seeking Truth’ Seminar Series
We are thrilled to announce that we will be hosting Seeking Truth, a new and exciting series of interactive seminars about feminist theology and the role and experience of women in the Church in 2021.
This pilot program, offered in partnership with the Broken Bay Institute, features leading academics and theologians from around the world, including the UK, USA and Italy. The theme of each seminar is unique, with the opportunity to ask questions and focus on action and the future of women in the Church.
We are delighted to invite students, staff, parents and ex-students to join us onsite for the first of these events.
‘Seeking Truth to Embrace Change’
with Professor Anne Tuohy
Tuesday 23 March, 7.00pm to 8.30pm
Seminar 1: ‘Seeking Truth to Embrace Change’
What drives the story of who we are as a Church? What are the realities for women, particularly women leaders in the Church? How do we imagine Sophia Christos, the art of feminine? Professor Anne Tuohy will explore these three key questions, which drive her as a woman theologian, through the lenses of ‘Anchor, Aspiration and Action.’
A New Zealand based academic, Anne completed Bachelor and Masters degrees in Theology at the Sydney College of Divinity and was awarded a Doctorate in Philosophy from ACU for her research comparing the Political Theology of J.B. Metz with the Feminist Theological Hermeneutics of Elisabeth Schussler Fiorenza.
We hope these Seeking Truth seminars will stimulate discussion, highlight global perspectives and bring an alertness and voice to women’s experience of the Church. Please save the following dates for exciting storytelling and discussions to come later in the year.
