“Loreto Normanhurst Sport – to inspire & challenge young women through movement & sport.”
Loreto Normanhurst, in the spirit of Mary Ward, is a school community that encourages each student to fulfil her academic and personal potential, in an atmosphere of freedom, care and respect for the individual.
Sport is a significant component of the extra-curricular dimension at Loreto Normanhurst. We offer an extensive array of sports which cater for girls of all skill levels. Representative pathways are provided by IGSSA (Independent Girls Schools Sports Association), IPSHA (Independent Primary School Heads Association) and the NSW CIS (Combined Independent Schools) Sports Council.
Sport at Loreto Normanhurst is enjoyed in a spirit of competition and pursuit of team and personal bests. The coaching staff, facilities for sport and the Sport Department’s organisation, provide excellent sporting opportunities for all students of every ability level.
Students make a commitment on registering for a Sport, which includes attending all training sessions and all games. Whilst sport is not compulsory, approximately 70% of students at the school participate in sport throughout the year, and all Year 7 to 10 Boarders are required to do a Saturday sport each term. All competitions run by the school are part of IGSSA or IPSHA, unless specified. Additionally national and international sport tours are conducted from time to time, providing memorable experiences for staff and students.
Sport in the school is run by the Head of Sport and Sport Administrators with the Deputy Principal having oversight of all extra-curricular activities in the school.
