Driving Change and Innovation: Lucy Hovanec ('95) at Women of Influence

We are delighted to welcome Lucy Hovanec ('95) to this year’s Women of Influence Evening. A leader in infrastructure, energy, and international development, Lucy is passionate about driving meaningful change and supporting teams to achieve impactful outcomes.
A graduate of the Class of 1995, Lucy is the General Manager of GHD across Canberra, Southern NSW, and Papua New Guinea, leading 170 people across five offices. She has played a pivotal role in the growth of this region, delivering projects in energy, defence, and urban infrastructure. Her team is at the forefront of Australia’s transition to renewable energy, working with clients to navigate the shift away from coal.
Lucy’s career has spanned 20 years across consulting, business development, and leadership. She has worked on major international projects, including Australia’s $110M Water for Women initiative and the Transport Sector Support Program in Papua New Guinea—programs that have created lasting community benefits. Her dedication to international development led her to work with the NGO WaterAid in Cambodia, where she secured transformative projects in water, sanitation, and hygiene across Southeast Asia.
Her career has taken her across the world, from consulting for governments in Tanzania and Botswana to leading executive coaching sessions in San Francisco. Lucy’s ability to bring out the best in individuals and teams has been a driving force in her leadership, aligning with Mary Ward’s belief that 'women in time to come will do much.'
Beyond her career, Lucy’s greatest achievement is her family, her husband Emil and their three children, Isabella, Jack, and Henrietta. Whether skiing, running, or exploring new opportunities together, they inspire and ground her.
Join us for an evening of inspiration as Lucy shares her journey, the lessons she has learned, and how she continues to lead with purpose and impact.
