The 2021 Olympic campaign #StrongerTogether wasn't just evident in Tokyo during the Olympics. From their homes all over Australia, Loreto Normanhurst students and staff engaged with this Olympic spirit throughout our very own LN Community Olympics!
A joint initiative from our Pastoral team and Sport Department, this program saw students compete in a series of fun challenges in their Tutor Group or Primary School teams, in a bid to secure a medal. The LN Community Olympics were a wonderful way to connect in a spirit of camaraderie, community and healthy competition despite the fact that we are all learning and working from home. Some of the challenges included making a stop-motion video, filming a home-made obstacle course or 'steeple chase,' writing a short story using book titles only, developing a virtual relay, or fashioning an Australian animal using only natural materials found outside.
The Loreto Normanhurst Community Olympics concluded with a spectacular Closing Ceremony at a virtual School Assembly, where students and staff were able to see the photos and videos of winning entries. Congratulations to students and staff for their creative, amusing and determined entries - we had well over 1000! Congratulations to Kendall 4, the Gold Medal-winning Tutor Group. Here are the Loreto Olympic House champions for 2021:

In addition to the Community Olympics, throughout remote learning our Sport Department are offering an Online Health and Wellbeing Program. Students Cand families!) can access and participate by following the link on the Sport Canvas page.
Lately, we have also been cheering on alumnae Liz Clay ('12) and Ellen Roberts ('09) who are currently representing Australia in Tokyo, competing in the 100m Hurdles and Australian softball team respectively.
