Even though Term 3 Sports may not have been able to go ahead, our Sport staff have been busy ensuring all students are still able to get their fix! Please check out the sport specific Canvas pages for more information about how to keep engaged with your sport, even whilst at home.
Congratulations to Jacqueline Dwyer (Year 12) who has successfully completed and been granted her Gold Award. Jacqueline’s initiative, perseverance and commitment across various activities has enable her to complete the rigorous requirements of the Gold Award. Well done on this wonderful achievement!
Just when we thought our Sport viewing options were dwindling, the Paralympics has arrived! The Paralympic motto states “Spirit in Action” which represents the strong will and determination of every athlete. Don’t miss a moment of the awe-inspiring action as they compete for Gold in Tokyo from the 24th August – 5th September.
Goodluck to Sophie Dwyer ('19), who is competing in the Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final this weekend for Greater Western Sydney (GWS). This season has seen Sophie rise to a starting 7 player and has been creating waves across the entire competition! In addition to this, she has also been selected in the Australian Development Squad and offered an invitation to attend the Aussie Diamonds Training Camp. We are all watching and supporting you, Sophie!
Loreto Normanhurst is excited to announce a school-wide initiative for an Active Body, Calm Mind and Connected Spirit. The multi-department program offers students a holistic approach to health and wellbeing, with a strong focus on connected and community spirit.
There are opportunities for morning fitness and meditation classes, activities through the tutor group structure and the return of Dancing in the Quad! (Virtually of course.)
I would encourage all students, families and staff to join in the program to create as many connections as possible during these tough times.
For more information, please check the Pastoral Canvas Page.
With the most recent update to the Government’s announcement to extend the Stay at Home orders for Greater Sydney, Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shell Harbour Areas and NSW Health Orders; all sport training, competition and activities have been suspended until further notice.
The Sport Department will aim to keep the Loreto Normanhurst Community updated as often as practicable about return to sport, training, and competitions as information has been released by all Government Agencies, as well as advice from the Loreto Normanhurst Leadership Team.
