Last week, the PDHPE department celebrated National Health and Physical Education Day (1st of September) with a week of activities.
Health and Physical Education (HPE) Day is a nationwide initiative that highlights the importance of Health & Physical Education in the Australian Curriculum, and its influence on the learning and development of children.
Students and staff had the opportunity to participate in activities including creating a healthy lunch box, going on a long walk, cooking a healthy meal, creating a ninja warrior course, participating in Tutor Group Trivia and participating in the plank challenge. We also promoted the 2021 Paralympic Games (24th August-5th September) which has seen athletes achieve great results for Australia. Thanks to Virginia Riley in Year 9 for her design of this week's Zoom backdrop.
It was wonderful seeing students participate in these activities and we look forward to next year's HPE week.
Stay active and healthy.

This week, our Year 12 CAFS (Community and Family Studies) students engaged with a virtual incursion. They joined a MasterClass hosted by Kelly Bell, the founder of the Learning Network for CAFS. Students enjoyed hearing tips and advice from Kelly to help motivate and inspire them as they approach their HSC.
This morning, Year 9 Science classes were honoured to host a special guest on our online learning environment. Rachel Lorizio, a registered midwife at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, connected to our classes via Zoom. She shared a bit about her work with families as they prepare for, receive and care for a new baby in their lives. Tying in with our current topic on Reproduction, students were able to ask Rachel lots of questions about the role of midwives and doctors during and after pregnancy, some of the procedures that can occur during childbirth, the highs and lows of working with expectant women and the many ways that the health system cares for mothers and babies, especially during COVID-19. Teachers and students alike would like to extend our thanks to Rachel for generously sharing her time and expertise with us.
Parents of Year 11 students would have received an email earlier this week with information and instructions about ordering books and additional purchase items for Year 12 2022. Orders must be placed via Campion by this Sunday, 12 September in order for delivery to be made for the commencement of the Year 12 syllabus next term.
