Oratory News - 19 November 2021

Today we congratulate our Mock Mediation and AIS NGS Super Virtual Debating teams, and wish our UN Youth students the very best!

Congratulations

Mock Mediation

Congratulations to our Mock Mediation team. Despite an outstanding score of 90/100 in the Semi-Final, the team was unsuccessful in making it through to the Grand Final. A big thank you to the staff who worked with the team: Mrs Ellen Lincoln and Ms Erinn McMahon. It is always great for teams to be rewarded for their hardwork by making it to the finals series… however to do this in the first year of involvement in the competition is an incredible achievement! Congratulations team. #LetsGoLoreto. The Team for 2021 includes:

  • Maria El Haddad
  • Tahlia Moses
  • Jane Dobeson
  • Hannah Cho
  • Monica Teng
  • Saskia Chapman
  • Sairsha Davies

AIS NGS Super Virtual Debating

Congratulations to our Primary Team who this week participated in the Semi-Finals. Unfortunately the team were not successful in proceeding to the next round. Congratulations to the following students:

  • Inayah Absar (Year 5)
  • Ella Tegg (Year 5)
  • Gabriella Connell (Year 6)
  • Lucinda Durston (Year 6)
  • Grace Delaney (Year 6)

Good luck

Good luck to Ella Khoury and Tahlia Moses (Year 9), participating in the NSW YOUTH UN Disability Justice Virtual Forum this weekend.

Oratory Club Wrap Up

Oratory Club started in 2021 with a focus on providing a term by term opportunity for students to have a ‘taste of oratory’ and learn some practical skills to help them in the classroom. We have seen just that happen. Students enrolled each term based on the proposed themes and really took the opportunity to ‘have a go’. Charlotte Barnett (Year 7) has written a reflection of her experience in Oratory Club:

Oratory Club has been a great experience this term. I got a chance to go outside of my comfort zone and create debates along with my friends and peers. I thoroughly enjoyed Oratory Club every Thursday.

For further information, please contact the Oratory Department or the Oratory Coordinator.
