eHealth NSW Excursion

Liz Green | Knowledge and Learning Strategist

Last week marked the culmination of our eHealth NSW and Association of Independent Schools of NSW pilot partnership program. Two of the winning teams from last year's Year 9 cohort visited the eHealth NSW offices where they ‘pitched’ their solutions to the chief executive. Our students used human centred design to improve the patient experience when solving real world digital health challenges.

Thanks to all the incredible eHealth NSW staff who were so generous with their time and expertise.

NSWCIS Swimming & Diving

Robert Hurley | Head Swimming Coach

Last week Loreto Normanhurst had 6 students representing the school at the prestigious NSW CIS Championships held at SOPAC.

The students achieved amazing results, and all qualified to progress through to the NSW All Schools Championships which are to be held next month.

Tilly King (Year 12) was dominant in her Breaststroke events, winning Gold in the 17-19 years 50m and 100m Breaststroke races, breaking the CIS Record in both events too! She also won the Bronze medal in the 200m Breaststroke event and gained important race practice before the high-level Australian Championships which are held in Adelaide next week, May 18-22nd.

More Bronze medals were won with Meghan Andren (Year 12) and Cordelia Stephen (Year 11) winning two each, swimming very close to their personal best times. Meghan finished a tight third in the 17-19 years 100m and 200m Freestyle events, and Cordelia followed suit in her specialist 50m and 100m Backstroke events in the 16 years age group.

Charlotte Wilson (Year 9) swam a controlled race to win Bronze in the 15 years 100m Freestyle and will race that event at NSW All Schools.

Finally, the Senior Girls relay team made up of Tilly, Meghan, Hayley Kable (Year 12) and Veronica Kuru (Year 11) combined took Bronze in the 4x50m Medley Relay, in a time faster than they went at the recent IGSA Championships.

Well done girls!

Bronze Duke of Ed Practice Journey

On Saturday 30th February and Sunday 1st May, 87 of our year 9 Bronze Duke of Edinburgh students embarked on their first Practice Journey by canoeing at Berowra Waters. Our girls were able to overcome the inclement weather and successfully complete their journey to the highest standards. It is evident these students have made lifelong memories and are looking forward to the Qualifying Journey later this year. Congratulations girls and keep up the great work on your award!

Rowing

Paige Critchlow (Year 12) was involved in the NSW Pathways U19 VIII racing on the last weekend of April. Her crew blitzed through their heat in the interstate regatta and came 6th in their Final. Congratulations Paige on being selected to this crew and representing NSW.
