School Updates

The School is aware of the surge in cyber related scams running in parallel with large numbers of people working from home. Cybercriminals are using the full suite of scam tools to obtain personal information for financial gain. Common scams include:

  • phishing emails and text messages prompting you to click on links or download software designed to get access to your personal information.
  • payment re-direction schemes where scammers impersonate a business or its employees via email, and request that money owed is sent to a fraudulent bank account. These schemes are becoming more sophisticated using letterhead and branding to convince you bank account changes are legitimate.
  • malware (malicious software) offering free downloads where software is deployed providing access to your computer.
  • ransomware (a form of malware software) that infects your systems and encrypts files. Ransom is demanded to be paid to unlock systems.

Given the increased incidence of cybercrime, if for any reason an email looks suspicious, especially in relation to payment of fees, or you’re being requested to re-direct a payment to a changed bank account, please contact the School immediately on (02) 9473 7300.

Mission Australia Surveys

Parents will have received information on 23 June via email about this important national survey on young people’s mental health and wellbeing last term. The survey will take place on Thursday, 28 July for students aged 15 and over. Results are used by national bodies as well as schools to plan their programs and care for our young people, so we strongly encourage participation. We are still accepting permission forms so please ensure your daughter returns these to Student Services as soon as possible or via email to studentservices@loretonh.nsw.edu.au.

City/Country Mothers’ Weekend Away – An Update from the Committee

We were overwhelmed by the response to the Tamworth City Country Weekend with Saturday lunch tickets selling out in less than an hour!

To those on the waitlist thanks for your patience. We believe a small number of tickets may become available for the waitlist due to refunds/cancellations, however the Saturday lunch venue is restricted to 170 people so there will not be a bulk release of additional tickets.

In good news, our Friday night venue can accommodate 200 people so we are able to release more tickets for that event and there are also still tickets available for Sunday breakfast.

We encourage you to still come to Tamworth for the weekend, book for Friday night, which will be a great night with live music, spend Saturday exploring Tamworth at your leisure and then join the party that evening. We have a number of pubs and bars booked for Saturday night so there will still be lots of opportunity to connect with other mums.

If you would like to take advantage of the remaining tickets and book for Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday breakfast, please email events@loretonh.nsw.edu.au.

For mums who were able to secure tickets, if your plans have changed and you are not able to attend please contact Lauren Kirkby – events@loretonh.nsw.edu.au for a refund and hopefully your ticket can be allocated to someone on the waitlist.
