The competitive stream squads are for all swimmers wishing to compete at swimming carnivals, open water championships, metro, state, and national championships.
Our Junior Squad program is an introduction to squad training for current and future competitive swimmers. Primarily catered for ages 7-12 years, sessions last for 1 hour and 15 minutes. It is recommended that all swimmers in this squad are training 2-3x per week, and race at Loreto Normanhurst Swimming Club Nights as a member of the club.
The Intermediate Squad introduces more advanced squad training techniques with the goal to improve competitive swimming performances. The focus area includes converting training skills to racing, race strategies, and contributing to a squad environment. Session lengths range between 1.5 to 2 hours. Swimmers are primarily aged between 12 and 15 years old and recommended to be training 5x per week. The focus is on becoming a competitive swimmer, and squad members are expected to be district metro qualified and race at qualifying meets (Metro, State, Nationals).
The Senior Squad is for the highly competitive swimmer of high school age who wish to engage in swimming as their priority sport. The focus area turns to training for race endurance, race skills, goal setting, sportsmanship, and commitment. Squad members are introduced to strength training under the supervision of the LN Strength and Conditioning Coach and additional dryland training. Recommended training is 6-7x per week.
