Values and Faith

Spirituality and Faith

Catholic Christian faith is woven into all we do at Loreto Normanhurst. At our school, all people are invited to grow in their knowledge and love of God and to embrace prayer and service as the source of all they do.

A variety of experiences of faith are offered at the school, including:

  • Stillness of our daily midday reflection
  • Early morning Communion Services
  • Sunday evening Boarder Eucharist
  • Celebrations to mark the Church’s liturgical year
  • Staff Spirituality Days
  • Spirituality and Chaplaincy program, including retreats
  • A focus on bringing every celebration in our school year into a context of prayer.

Ignatian & Mary Ward Spirituality

Mary Ward formed close connections with the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) and was drawn to the spirituality of St Ignatius, seeking a holy life of balance between contemplation, prayer, social justice and action.

Following the model of the Ignatian tradition and Mary Ward's adoption of the 'Rule of the Society of Jesus,' our school community sets time apart from the ordinary, practises discernment and serves others in our deeds so that we may truly "find God in all things."

Values

Our Values

Our values are those that were given to Mary Ward in 1615.
They underpin our identity and culture and join us to a global sisterhood of schools.
