Kate Kovacs, Director of Boarding

What makes Loreto Boarding so special?

“As a boarder from Sydney, I experience the best of both worlds. Staying at school during the week where there is no daily travel time to and from school, school facilities are easily accessible, the routine is extremely beneficial, my friends are always around, and I am able to do many more extra-curricular activities due to the convenience.”
Emily Stockwell, Year 12 boarder from Manly
“I loved being a part of a community where the support and care each of the boarders have for one another creates a homely and tight-knit environment, one where I felt comfortable to reach my full potential and be who I am. Boarding at Loreto afforded me the chance to participate in numerous extra-curricular opportunities including sport, music and academic extension that I would not have had access to in my small rural community in western NSW.”
Lara Ciesiolka, boarder from Wee Waa, NSW
Class of 2020
“It's never an easy decision to send your children to boarding school, but it's been the best decision for both our girls. Loreto Normanhurst is a wonderful, vibrant, friendly school and we would have no hesitation in recommending boarding at Loreto Normanhurst to other families. We have cherished our time as parents and members of the wider Loreto Normanhurst community and we are enormously proud of the young women our daughters have become.”

Living and Growing Together
Boarding and Loreto offers a caring, stable and safe environment with experienced staff.
Boarder Wellbeing
Boarders feel that they…
Boarding Coordinators provide daily care for boarders and are supported by the Boarding Heads of House and the Dean of Boarding. The staff provide a comprehensive Social and Emotional Learning Program.
There is a strong culture of security, social connectedness and a feeling of a positive outlook is actively encouraged and fostered.
Academic Support
The Loreto Normanhurst Boarding School for girls provides an environment in which all girls can strive to reach their academic potential. Girls are encouraged to be consistent and reflective learners and to endeavour to set and reach individual academic goals. Loreto boarders come from diverse backgrounds: rural and regional Australia, metropolitan areas and international cities. Boarding staff are mindful of the unique educational backgrounds of boarders and work to develop close relationships with the girls in their care and encourage and support them in their studies.
There are a number of staff available to the boarders onsite every evening for study including the Academic Care Manager, Homework Helpers and teaching staff. New boarders in Year 7-9 have an Academic Mentor – a leadership position for our senior boarders.
