Our Master Plan
For more than 125 years, Loreto Normanhurst has been part of the Hornsby Shire community with a 400-year mission to educate, encourage and inspire young women.
Loreto Normanhurst has been developing a Master Plan to guide the planning of the campus over the next 30 years. The School is planning for a 30-year period because there is a growing need for excellent schools in Sydney’s north.
The school’s growth is planned over four stages delivered across the 30 years. The overall proposal aims to increase the student capacity incrementally by 850 students by the year 2047.
The Master Plan will unfold with the gradual redevelopment or replacement of current buildings to create an innovative, unified, sustainable and ecologically sensitive campus.

Boarding House
Modification to the SSDA consent was submitted for general design refinements and was approved in June 2024.
Since December 2021, the School has been working on preparatory works designed to improve traffic flow and to clear the way for the new Boarding House through demolition works. These works are now complete.
Early in 2023 we appointed a partner for Early Contractor involvement and based on this process, we decided to make some adjustments to the project to ensure its sustainability and successful execution. To support this, we submitted a State Significant Development Application (SSDA) Modification to seek additional approval from DPE for the updated project.
In June 2024 we received approval of the SSDA modification and construction begun in July 2024.
The vision for our new Boarding House is a lively home away from home containing a variety of spaces that set the stage for the rhythms of boarding life.
Its expansion will enrich the friendships, opportunities and experiences available to students and all members of our community. The new building will house the School Canteen in its dining room, and will feature common gathering spaces for social and recreational use, communal areas for boarding families, updated accommodation for boarding staff and improved accessibility for students with specific access needs.
We anticipate the build will take 18 months and will be completed in December 2025.
