What Are Equity
Scholarships?
Our Equity Scholarships, formerly known as Bursaries, help us provide access to the transformative education that Mary Ward envisioned for all young women. Since 2000, more than 70 students have been supported through this program, each one bringing new perspective, spirit and strength to our school community.
They are offered to new students joining our community, not as fee assistance for current families. Equity Scholarships provide full or part fee support to students who could not otherwise afford a Loreto Normanhurst education. They are open to families in necessitous circumstances, including those impacted by drought, flood, bushfire or hardship.

Equity Scholarship Recipient Story
I came to Loreto as a boarder in Year 10, supported by the bursary program after my family faced challenges, including my sister’s complex medical needs.
Loreto opened doors—supporting my studies and swimming.
Boarding built my independence, resilience, and friendships, especially during COVID when connection mattered most. Loreto’s values shaped me, and they continue to guide me in my career today as I study occupational therapy, inspired by the work I witnessed helping my sister.
Loreto was the stepping stone that brought me here—to a career I love and a life shaped by courage and compassion.
