Ellen Lincoln Awarded Sr Mary Wright Leadership Scholarship

Loreto Normanhurst is proud to share that Ellen Lincoln, Head of English, has been awarded the Sr Mary Wright Leadership Scholarship, presented by Loreto Ministries.

Named in honour of Sr Mary Wright IBVM, a gifted leader, teacher and Canon lawyer whose legacy of humility, wisdom and transformative leadership continues to shape the Loreto network. The scholarship supports current leaders in Loreto schools to further develop their leadership capacity through a study or immersion opportunity that benefits both the recipient and their school community.

As the 2026 recipient, Ellen will lead a significant curriculum mapping project at Loreto Normanhurst. The initiative aims to address emerging gaps in students’ general knowledge and strengthen instructional coherence across subject areas. Drawing on targeted professional development and coaching, Ellen will build her capacity to lead whole-school change by guiding the development of a sequenced, knowledge-rich curriculum aligned with the Loreto Normanhurst Student Growth Model.

Ellen is dedicated to evidence-based, explicit pedagogy and believes that a well-designed, knowledge-rich curriculum empowers students to think critically, communicate confidently and engage thoughtfully with the world. Through this project, she hopes to enhance clarity around what students learn and when, ensuring all students have equitable access to deep, challenging disciplinary knowledge. The work directly supports the School’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and holistic growth.

“It is a great honour to receive the scholarship,” Ellen shared. “It provides a unique opportunity to stretch my leadership capacity beyond my current role in English and to look at implementing whole-school change. It is also a great opportunity to work on a project that may benefit the School community more broadly.”

Ellen joined Loreto Normanhurst as an English teacher in 2020. Since then, she has served as Acting Head of House and Assistant Head of English before being appointed Head of English in 2022. As a proud alumna, she is deeply connected to the Loreto philosophy of education and is excited to contribute not only to Loreto Normanhurst but also to the broader Loreto network through this opportunity.

We congratulate Ellen on this outstanding achievement and look forward to the impact of her leadership across our School community.
