Year 11 Students Take the Field with Mini Roos Coaching Course

This year, our passionate Year 11 SLR class is studying a unit on Coaching, aiming to achieve a formal coaching qualification. This certification equips them with practical skills and experience coaching children aged 4 to 11.

The course highlights the hands-on learning opportunities available at Loreto Normanhurst and our strong focus on preparing students for their futures.

Students deepen their understanding of the core principles and ethics of teaching, while learning what makes an effective coach. They develop communication skills essential to engaging junior players and fostering positive relationships.

Facilitated by Spirit Football Club, the unit includes practical sessions where students learn fun games and how to organise safe, engaging football activities. Alongside this, they complete online modules that reinforce coaching principles, ethics, and relationship-building skills.

Through this combination of practical and theoretical learning, students gain a comprehensive understanding of game rules, organisation, and how to cultivate a positive football culture.

Achieving this formal coaching qualification is a significant accomplishment, requiring dedication and hard work. Their journey reflects Loreto Normanhurst’s commitment to developing leadership and life skills, continuing our tradition of empowering young women to pursue their goals.

This unit showcases how our students acquire real-world skills beyond the classroom, preparing them to confidently step into the world and follow their passions.

We’re proud to offer programs like this that empower our students to grow as confident leaders both on and off the field.
